Stop Motion Project

Hello All,

I spent this weekend conquering a project I’ve been thinking about for some time, but was too intimidated to take the leap to actually do it. Stop motion. Stop motion is defined as an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object or persona appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence.

Yes, right now it looks like a giant mess, but hopefully the final product will make it all make sense.

This is usually done with clay puppets but I used cans and bottles to make it seem as if the recyclables were part of a flash mob that danced their way into the recycling bin.

I did a test run and things looked pretty good, but I’ve yet to the put the whole thing together. It took me about 6 hours total and I’m not yet sure how many pictures, but a lot. Because the pictures had to be taken so low to the ground, I had to constantly be up and down in order to rearrange everything just so before sitting back down on the ground to take the picture. It was much more physically demanding than I thought it would be. Overall, I’m pretty excited to see how it turned out and I’ll try to have something uploaded sometime this week.
